In a constant quest to lose those last 10.....15......20 lbs, (it varies depending on the week, my mood, and "that time" of the month) I have spent the last few months trying different diets. I have tried
South Beach,
Atkins, Eat to Live (Vegan),
Kellogg's, and
Lean Cuisine. My most recent foray into the diet world has me attempting the
Belly Fat Cure by Jorge Cruise. This diet limits your sugar (only 15 grams daily) and your carbs (6 servings, preferably of whole grain or vegetables, daily).
This book is full of yummy and very easy recipes. One of which is shown below. This recipe is a fiber drink. Jorge calls it the
Belly Fat Cure Drink. The recipe is as follows:
1(20-oz.) bottle of SoBe Lifewater (any PureVia-sweetened flavor, or water)
2 1/2 Tbsp. psyllium husks
3 probiotic capsules
This drink is
supposed to provide 10 grams of fiber and help accelerate "false belly fat loss" (meaning crap, literally). So I thought, what a better way to start the diet then to make and drink this recipe.
So, I bought this:
and this:
I also bought 10 SoBe Lifewater's (they were on sale). I followed the recipe
exactly. As I was swallowing the drink and
gagging enjoying it immensely, I decided to look at the recipe again. It was then I noticed that the book says the drink is supposed to provide about 10 grams of fiber. I quickly turned the psyllium husk container over and studied the nutritional facts. The serving size, for the kind I bought, is 1/2 Tbsp. Every serving, every 1/2 Tbsp., provides 4 grams of dietary fiber. In the drink that I made I added 2 1/2 Tbsp. of psyllium husk. That is 5, 1/2 Tbsp.'s. 5 x 4 = 20. Yep. Instead of drinking 10 grams of fiber, I drank 20. 20 freaking grams of fiber. Needless to say, the bathroom and I have become fast friends and most likely will continue to do so.
My bad.
I should try this drink, i drink life water ALL the time, we get 2 cases from Sam's club and I drink it all in a month maybe less.
