The Older They Get, The Cuter They Ain't

*Disclaimer:  This post was written the morning of my birthday, which was yesterday, and then we got busy and we went out, so I wasn't able to finish it.  But I still wanted to post it, so here it is.

Me, back when I was cute.
Dave likes to joke (at least I think it's a joke) in regards to our kids, "The older they get, they cuter they ain't."  Well, I think that little joke applies to me today as well.  You see, today is my birthday.  I'm realizing that the older you get the more your birthday is just another day.  I woke up and watered the garden.  Unloaded the dishwasher and did a load of laundry.  Dave took the van down to get the brakes fixed and later we have to take the truck down to get it fixed too.  I need to finish the headboard.  Dave is trying to get a sitter so we can go out, but it's General Conference weekend so it's kind of hard to do.  Dave is currently making me breakfast, which I love, and I am going to try to go out for a few hours to do some shopping by myself.  I'll also pick up a yummy dessert that we can stick a few candles in so my kids can sing Happy Birthday to me.  Other than that, it's just another day.  But you know what, I'm okay with that.  I love my family.  I love my life.  So, if my birthday is just another day in my life, that makes me happy.  It makes me content.  Happy Birthday to me!

Now, not so much.

*Update on the birthday celebrations!  Dave was able to get a sitter.  My fabulous sister-in-law Karen, (who doesn't have any kids and kids make her nervous) came out and watched the kids for us so we could go out to dinner!  We went to Hibachi.  It's one of those places where they cook in front of you and put on a really good show.  Dave told the chef that it was my birthday.  He said he had a birthday surprise for me and here it is:

I got to go behind the grill, hold his cooking tools, and wear his hat!  It was pretty funny.  He even made sure that Dave had his phone ready to take a picture!  After dinner Dave asked what I wanted to do.....he offered a movie, dessert......but you know what I really wanted to do........go to Target and leisurely walk around and look at things.  Dave was like, "Are you serious?"  Yep, I was serious!  So we walked around Target for an hour til it closed.  We got some sandals for the Beast and some pants for Dave.  It was GREAT!  Ended up being a fabulous birthday!  Thanks Babe!
